Down by the Riverside

Down by the Riverside is a work in progress; it will be benefit album for the music therapy program at Reuben Lindh Family Services.

Reuben Lindh runs pre-schools, day care, parenting classes, and other programs for at-risk families in inner city Minneapolis. One of Reuben Lindh’s most innovative and successful programs is music therapy, which is offered to both children and parents.

In keeping with Reuben Lindh’s focus on whole families, we are trying to make an album that people of all ages will enjoy. The concept is to have great contemporary musicians interpret classic lullabies, Mother Goose songs, spirituals, and other traditional songs. While many children’s albums rely on saccharine, this album will rely on soul and simplicity. So far, Semisonic, Mason and Amy Jennings, Adam Levy, the Flops (Matt Wilson and John Munson), the Hang Ups, and Kristin Mooney have recorded songs for it.
